When you answer the phone and hear “Hello, this is New Jersey Relay…” – please don’t hang up!  You are about to talk with a person who is Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind or has a Speech Disability with the assistance of a relay operator.

Every day, thousands of people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind or have a Speech Disability make phone calls to businesses and organizations.  They’re calling through the relay service.  Relay calls are not telemarketing, so please don’t hang up.  Hang-ups are frustrating for callers.  Equally important, hanging up could mean a loss of business and poor customer relations for your business or organization.

Next time you receive a relay call, please don’t hang up… it could be the most important call of the day!
